About the Artist
Nicolas Party was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1980. Initially, he began his artistic journey as a graffiti artist before embarking on a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the École cantonale d’art de Lausanne (2004) and subsequently attaining a Master of Fine Art from the Glasgow School of Art (2009). His recent work has been prominently showcased in various solo exhibitions, notably at the MASI Lugano (2020), the FLAG Art Foundation in New York (2019), the M WOODS Museum in Beijing (2018), the Musée Magritte in Brussels (2018), and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. (2017). Presently, he resides and creates in New York and Brussels.

Drawing upon his extensive understanding of art history, Party crafts a distinctive and profound body of work that celebrates pictorial conventions. Influenced by the likes of Georgia O’Keeffe, Giorgio Morandi, Rosalba Carriera, and Félix Vallotton, he reinterprets traditional art norms, forsaking literal depictions of nature in favor of an imaginative, kaleidoscopic exploration of color and form.
